The Wales Maternity & Neonatal Network was established in January 2019 and brings together NHS health professionals and partners from other organisations, with the aim of ensuring equitable, high quality and clinically effective maternity and neonatal care is available to babies and their families in Wales. The primary aim of the Network is to ensure that mothers and babies are cared for in a level of Unit appropriate to their needs, as near to their home as possible.

CHANTS is the dedicated neonatal transfer service designed to move babies safely from one hospital to another for specialised or ongoing care and exists to make sure the transfer is as safe and efficient as possible. Neonatal Care is only provided in a small number of specialised units, and your closest hospital may not have the facilities that your baby needs.
